JavaScript Typing Practice

Practice JavaScript typing with functions, template literals and async/await. Choose 40 snippets in three levels and review exact-copy accuracy for free.

Guided practiceFREE · PHYSICAL KEYBOARD

Off by default. No typed text or email. Usage preferences and details

Use a physical keyboard. Timing starts on your first character. Paste is disabled. Keep this tab open until you finish; reloading starts a new session. Prepared text continues its rotation across visits in this browser; generated numbers can coincidentally repeat.

Practice your own code · private to this tab

Use fictional or redacted English keyboard text. Paste is allowed here to prepare the source. It is disabled during practice. Code is copied, never executed. Limit: 1,200 characters. Tabs become four spaces. This source and its results stay in this tab, including when optional usage statistics are enabled. They do not save to your account or complete plan lessons. Reloading clears them.

A JavaScript example before you start

Format a total — copy the displayed source exactly, including whitespace. Scroll the sample horizontally if a line extends beyond the panel.

function formatTotal(price, quantity) {
    const total = price * quantity;
    return `$${total.toFixed(2)}`;
}

What to watch in JavaScript

The total-formatting example combines a function body, a method call and a template literal. Check both parentheses in toFixed(2) and the closing brace after the return line.

Template literals use backticks, not quotation marks. Copy ${...} exactly. Other exercises add arrow functions (=>), optional chaining (?.) and nullish coalescing (??).

40 prepared snippets in three levels

Choose Core syntax first, then Work tasks and Nested structures. Each untimed run contains eight snippets from the selected bank. All snippets mixes the three levels; keep the same level when comparing results.

Core syntax · 13 snippets
  • Filter active users
  • Format a total
  • Use a default setting
  • Copy an object
  • Check an optional value
  • Read a property
  • Check a range
  • Normalize a reference
  • Round a displayed amount
  • Append a queue item
  • Match a reference format
  • Use a set
  • Handle an absent value
Work tasks · 14 snippets
  • Count quantities
  • Handle a form event
  • Group orders by status
  • Sort a work queue
  • Find a stock item
  • Build query parameters
  • Prepare an invoice summary
  • Read an ISO date
  • Merge contact preferences
  • Mark a task complete
  • Parse a quantity safely
  • Collect invalid fields
  • Create an export row
  • Count completed tasks
Nested structures · 13 snippets
  • Read an API response
  • Validate nested line items
  • Flatten grouped references
  • Handle a JSON parse failure
  • Index records with a map
  • Use a nested lookup
  • Build an asynchronous loader
  • Create a counter closure
  • Describe a status with switch
  • Process nested quantities
  • Return a structured validation result
  • Keep the newest record
  • Format an optional address unit

Prepared snippets rotate until the selected bank is exhausted. They are transcription exercises, not generated projects or a programming assessment.

WHO IT HELPS

Train a useful work skill.

For JavaScript learners and developers who want steadier entry of chained methods, callbacks and modern operators. The prepared examples cover arrays, objects, events and an asynchronous request.

How to practice

Begin with an untimed batch and Accuracy first enabled. Read the opening and closing delimiters before copying each function. For a template literal, check the backticks and ${...} separately. Once a batch is accurate, repeat with the same duration and compare symbol errors.

Common mistakes

Watch => versus >=, backticks versus straight quotes, and the extra punctuation in ?. and ??. The editor adds no closing braces or automatic indentation; rewriting a chain into equivalent JavaScript is still a transcription mismatch.

Suggested training time

Start with 5–10 minutes. Take breaks and stop if typing causes discomfort. Accurate input comes before speed.

Common questions

How is exact-copy accuracy measured?

Every character, including case, spaces and line breaks, is compared with the source. WPM uses five characters per word. Compare the same language, duration and practice settings; this is not a programming assessment.

Do I need an account?

No. Practice, error review and current-result export are free without login. Sign in only if you want to save history.

Which JavaScript features can I type here?

The 40 prepared examples include filter/map, a total-formatting function, async/await, destructuring, reduce, an event listener, object spread and optional chaining. Choose core syntax, work tasks or nested structures. Source banks rotate until exhausted; these are prepared snippets, not generated projects.

Will the async example call an API?

No. fetch and document.querySelector appear only in source text. Your entry is never executed, and the example does not contact an API or change a document.

Does the editor complete brackets or template literals?

No. You type both delimiters, every ${...} expression, spaces and line breaks yourself. Enter creates a line and Tab inserts four spaces; Ctrl/Command+Enter submits the snippet.
