Privacy and data retention
Last updated: October 6, 2026
Typing for Work provides free typing exercises and training plans. You can practice without an account. Use the fictional examples provided; do not enter confidential information or real customer records.
Contact the operator
For privacy questions, access or correction requests, and help deleting your information, contact shuashuadizhi@gmail.com. Include your account email and a brief description of your request. Do not send passwords, sign-in codes, payment information or confidential documents. We may need to verify that a request relates to your own account. We aim to respond within one month, or sooner where applicable law requires, and will explain any permitted extension.
Guest practice
Raw practice text and displayed error examples are processed in your browser and are not saved to the site's database. A summary, including scores and key observations, is sent to our server to attempt account saving. Guest requests are rejected rather than stored as account history. Your browser may retain page contents or local copies under its own settings.
If sign-in is required, the latest summary may be kept in this tab's session storage. It is eligible for saving for one hour. Successful saving removes that copy; an expired copy is removed when the signed-in account page next checks it. Expiry does not guarantee physical removal at that exact moment. Tab session storage normally ends with the tab session, but browser session restoration may preserve it. A new pending result replaces the previous one. You can clear the site's browser storage yourself. There is no guest cross-visit history in this version.
Optional accounts and purposes
Google or email sign-in stores an account identifier, name and email to authenticate you. Linked-provider identifiers and encrypted Google authentication tokens may be stored for Google sign-in. Score summaries, practice type and accuracy-mode settings, per-key observations and completed lessons are used to display and compare progress.
Authentication uses session records and cookies, which may include IP address and browser information. Verification records and request-rate counters verify sign-in and help prevent abuse. Email codes are stored as hashes rather than readable codes in the database. Results are personal practice data, not verified employment assessments.
Retention periods
Account profile and linked sign-in details
Kept while your account exists, until you delete it or we complete a verified deletion request. We do not automatically delete accounts solely because they have been inactive.
Saved scores, key observations and completed lessons
Kept until you delete saved results and plan progress, delete your account, or we complete a verified deletion request. The latest-100-results display limit is not a retention limit: older saved results remain available in your full export.
Sign-in sessions
Normally valid for seven days; continued use may renew the expiry. Signing out invalidates the current session. Account deletion removes all linked sessions. Expired database rows are normally removed by daily maintenance; operational delays may postpone cleanup. Expiry prevents authentication; it does not instantly erase every stored row.
Temporary verification records
Email codes are valid for five minutes, with a limited number of failed attempts. Used records are consumed by authentication, and expired verification records are cleaned during subsequent verification lookups. Daily production maintenance removes expired verification rows. Five-minute validity does not mean physical deletion after five minutes; operational delays may postpone cleanup.
Security request-rate counters
Used for short request-limiting windows. Stale database counters may remain until operational maintenance; they are not saved practice history. Daily production maintenance removes counters that have not been updated for 24 hours, subject to operational delays.
Privacy and support correspondence
Kept while resolving your request and normally for no more than 12 months after closure, for follow-up and a record of the response. Longer retention required by law or an unresolved dispute is limited to necessary information. This is an operator mailbox-handling policy, not an automatic website feature.
Export and deletion controls
My progress shows your latest 100 saved sessions. Its export downloads all saved results and completed lessons. Delete-progress removes those results and lessons from the active database after a successful response, while keeping your account. Account deletion removes your profile, linked sign-in records, sessions, saved results and lessons from the active database. These deletions cannot be undone through the website.
Temporary verification records, security counters, provider-held data, logs and backups have separate lifecycles. Deleting progress does not necessarily delete those records. Exported files remain on your computer until you delete them. Sign-in messages remain in your inbox under your email provider's settings.
Providers and cookies
Google processes information when you choose Google sign-in. The currently configured NetEase 163 email service processes the destination address and sign-in message when you request a code. Cloudflare delivers the public site and processes connection data, including IP addresses, for delivery and security. Our hosting provider processes connection data to serve the website. The contact mailbox is hosted by Google Gmail. Providers have their own privacy notices and may process information in other countries; deleting your typing account does not control their retention. We will update this notice before changing the sign-in email provider.
Sign-in cookies maintain your session. Advertising and third-party analytics are not enabled. Future activation requires an updated notice explaining providers, purposes, retention and applicable consent choices.
Hosting logs and backups
This website is hosted at worktyping.com. Dedicated daily maintenance and restricted recovery backups are enabled. Ordinary application and access/error logs are rotated under a 14-day retention policy; recovery backups expire under a 30-day policy. Operational failures can delay scheduled cleanup. Longer incident or legally required retention must be limited to necessary records and documented.
Backups must not be used as routine history or marketing data. Restored data must have completed deletion requests reapplied before normal service resumes. Backup expiry, log rotation and daily cleanup of expired authentication records and stale counters apply to this site. Hosting and Cloudflare provider logs have separate policies; these limits do not control provider-held records.
Changes
We will update this notice when data handling changes and show the revised date. Material changes to account data use should be communicated before they take effect.
